Will I be in control during my birth if I’m under Hypnosis?

You will always have control. You will not be in a trance or a sleep and you certainly won’t be clucking like a chicken (unless you want to)! What you will experience is similar to daydreaming, or the type of focusing that occurs when you are engrossed in a book, a movie or staring into a fire. You will be able to chat to those around you, your spirits will be high, you will be totally relaxed and you will be fully in control.

Who should attend the program with me?

Why is this taught in 5 sessions when other course are offered over a weekend?

Self-hypnosis and deep relaxation are very effective birthing techniques. They are acquired skills that need to be learned gradually and practiced between sessions. This ensures that you have the time to develop the conditioned responses that make HypnoBirthing so successful. There is no shortcut and this why the program is taught in five, 2 ½ hour sessions.

This class schedule allows the time to explore your feelings, to relax with your partner, to resolve and release any anxieties that may arise, and to become acquainted with your baby through pre-birth parenting.  We like to work with you personally and to follow your progress, so that we can work with you and prepare you to be ready, relaxed, and confident as you approach the birth of your baby.

I understand that often you might not explore HypnoBirthing until later in your pregnancy or you might have restrictive availability due to your work etc. I will always ensure that you receive a high standard of HypnoBirthing Childbirth Education to ensure you have a wonderful birth & often accommodate these situations with three 4 hour classes. I believe that this is the minimum number of sessions required before the information becomes overwhelming .

Do I bring my baby with me?

Whilst the tools and techniques you learn during the class will be used during your day-to-day life with baby around, it’s best to allow yourself the opportunity to learn these without distraction. It’s also a really lovely opportunity to give yourself a little bit of ‘me’ time& just relax.

Placenta Encapsulation FAQ's

What is placenta encapsulation?

Placenta encapsulation is the process of turning a mother’s placenta into capsules. Traditional Chinese Medicine has used this medicine and remedy for centuries. Many women are now rediscovering the amazing benefits of this natural medicine to support them through their postnatal period.

To receive all the powerful health benefits from your placenta, you don’t have to actually eat it. The encapsulation process involves drying, powdering & filling capsules so all you need to do is take a few capsules each day!

What is the process to encapsulate my placenta?

There are two different options when encapsulating a placenta; Raw & Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The placenta is drained, flushed and cleaned, removing as much foetal and maternal blood as possible.

The Traditional Chinese Medicine method involves gently steaming the placenta, in a sterilised pot.

The Raw Method involves trimming off the placenta membranes.

Then both methods require the placenta to be thinly sliced using sterile instruments.

The sliced placenta is then placed on sterilised trays and dehydrated for 10-16 hours.

Using sterilised metal blades your dehydrated placenta is then ground finely, this powder is then inserted into vegan capsules which are placed in an Amber glass jar.

Why choose one method over another?

The Traditional Chinese Medicine method (TCM) has been used for centuries & based on the principals of TCM this provides a warming medicine to the body as the placenta has been steamed. When prescribing medicine TCM practitioners determine if the body requires cooling or warming, the post-partum period is considered a time when the mother needs a warming remedy. Although, cooling remedies may be beneficial for 48 hours immediately after birth.

Those that follow a raw food diet may before the raw method based on the belief that raw foods are more nutrient dense.

It is completely up to you which method you would prefer to use & I would be happy to discuss the options further with you.

What is the homeopathic tincture?

A tincture is alcohol with medicinal plant properties in it, in this case dried placenta. The process of creating a tincture pulls those medicinal properties from the inside of the placenta and preserves them in a liquid form that we can easily ingest. This is great for extending the benefits of your placenta well beyond your capsules finishing.

What do I receive from the service?

As well as your placenta capsules &/or tincture you will receive:

  • Placenta print – a print of your placenta on art quality paper
  • Cord keepsake – shaping & drying of the cord for you to keep or plant
  • Instructions for the collection of your placenta, dosages & contraindications
